Kristin R. Derrick, DMD
A true Gamecock, Dr. Derrick graduated magna cum laude from the University of South Carolina in 2002 with a Bachelor's of Science in Biological Science. Afterwards, she headed to Charleston and graduated in 2006 from the Medical University of South Carolina. Born and raised in Clinton, immediately after graduation she began practicing at Clinton Dental Care. She and Gary have been married since 2006 and love their animals (3 dogs and 1 cat). Gary is a commercial insulator based out of Columbia. In her free time, she loves being outdoors, going to the lake, baking, and going to USC football games in the fall! (GO COCKS!) February 18, 2011 they welcomed their first child, Careen Adair (Addy), into the Clinton Dental Care family.
Dr. Derrick makes attending continuing education a priority. She is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry and the Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry along with the American Dental Association. She is also pursuing the Dawson Academy curriculum and has attended 5 courses to date. The Dawson Academy focuses on the mouth and its effect on the overall health of the body. Over the past 5 years she has over 115 hours of continuing education. August 2011 she will be attending the Zimmer Institute Restorative Course in California.

Daniel P. Hartley, DMD
Dr. Hartley graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina in 1973. Originally from Mt. Pleasant, Dr. Hartley came to Presbyterian College and fell in love with Clinton. He has been practicing for 39 years, 36 of which have been in Clinton. He is married to Pat and has a daughter Peyton, who is a dental assistant, and son-in-law Scott who live in Charleston. When Dr. Hartley isn't practicing dentistry he's enjoying golf, photography (which can be seen all around the office), their dog Bubba and his first granddaughter, Carsten Marie, born in February 2011.

Betsy Riser, office manager
"Clinton Dental Care, this is Betsy." Anyone who has called our office over the years knows she is a legend. Some patients even save her messages to cheer them up on a rainy day. Betsy has been our office manager for over 24 years. Any insurance questions she's the one to ask. She has 2 daughters; Shawn, who is a registered pharmacist teaching at Wingate University School of Pharmacy, and Caroline, who's a senior at the University Of South Carolina School Of Journalism. When she's not keeping us all straight she is reading, shopping, camping, and spending time with her fiancé Scott.

Lynn Miner, office assistant
Lynn is the newest addition to our team but is now approaching her 5 year anniversary with us. When she's not working, her husband and 2 children keep her busy. Hayden, 7 and Sydney Fay, 4 ½ keep her and Paul on their toes. Paul is an Operations Manager with GE in Greenville. When she gets an opportunity, she and Paul participate in Mud Runs (bringing back their Air Force days). She also loves to go to the movies, read and travel.

Lisa Taylor, RDH
A hygienist for 32 years, Lisa has been the head of our hygiene team for 18 years. She graduated from Greenville Technical College in 1980 with an Associate's Degree in Dental Hygiene. Lisa and Ronnie, a retired science teacher, have 5 sons: Auggie, Jason, Shane, Joe and Oscar. A proud grandmother Lisa has 4 grandchildren: Chandler, Ashlynn, Carson and the newest addition Alana Rose (now 1).

Becky Miles, RDH
Becky is a legend around Laurens County! Graduating with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Dental Hygiene in 1971 from the Medical College of Georgia, she was an original with Dr. Carl Wessinger in Clinton. For the past 12 years she has been a part of our hygiene team part-time, splitting her time between Clinton and Newberry. Becky has 2 children, Craig and Anna Rose; 1 grandson, Sayer (2); and a granddaughter that will be here any minute Ellyson Rose.

Jacki Ellis, dental assistant
Jacki has enjoyed her career as a dental assistant for over 22 years. She and her husband Andy, an IT specialist at Fugi, have 2 children, Scott and Kristen, and 4 grandchildren—Landon, Matthew, and twins Caleb and Abby. Jacki loves being a grandmother, working in her yard, singing in her church choir, listening to 60s music and exercising. Her motto, "When you are down…dance like Ellen."

Darlene Scogin, dental assistant
Darlene began her career in dentistry in 1994 as an office assistant then progressed to a dental assistant for the past 14 years. She joined our team in 2001 as a dental assistant and bleaching specialist. She has 2 children: Leigh Anne, a special education teacher for Laurens County District 56 and owner of the Palmetto Equestrian Therapeutic Program in Clinton; and Jonathan, a certified motorcycle mechanic, pursuing a degree in game management with the University of South Carolina Upstate. In her free time, Darlene always can be found outside hiking, exercising, gardening, and now riding her mountain bike. She's started on the 5K circuit and is now contemplating her first triathlon.
